Sharjah, Nov 5(ANI): The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) must have a zero-tolerance attitude towards indiscipline and corruption to ensure that any spot-fixing or match-fixing scam doesn't affect the country again, according to former Pakistan captain Rameez Raja.
Raja's comment comes after former captain Salman Butt, and fast bowlers Mohammad Asif and Mohammad Amir, were jailed by London's Southwark Crown Court earlier this week for involvement in a spot-fixing scam during the 2010 Lord's Test against England.
"From the board's point of view, I feel there should be zero tolerance when it comes to indiscipline. They should put in legislation at every level of the game from under-19 and first class cricket to ensure that they boss the game in a proper manner," Raja told Gulf News.
"They should also create a healthy environment in the dressing room by making sure that you get the right people governing the cricket team," he added.
When asked whether the Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) of the International Cricket Council (ICC) needs to be made more powerful, Raja said: "I don't think that they can have the powers of a policeman or a police department, so I think they are out there as a deterrent."
"They need to keep an eye on everything," he added. (ANI)
