Washington, November 5 (ANI): Glenn Close has helped build a custom-made house for an Iraq war veteran.
The soldier, Staff Sergeant. Allen Hill was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder and had survived a bomb blast in Iraq.
He couldn't return to his home in Kansas because it was next to a rock quarry and the noise triggered debilitating flashbacks.
"Every time there was an explosion he would go into a flashback, which is like a catatonic state," Contactmusic quoted Close as telling People.com.
The actress contacted the producers of the TV show Extreme Makeover: Home Edition and asked them if they'd could help the soldier. They agreed to build the home in a week.
Friends and family who had gathered for the unveiling of the house had to remain silent for his surprise, as any loud noise would have ruined the moment for the Staff Sergeant.
"The whole crowd, children included, had to be absolutely silent to give him a chance to digest what's going on. It was just amazing," she said. (ANI)
