Sydney, Oct 30(ANI): Australian swimmer Ian Thorpe's sports psychologist Deidre Anderson believes that the five-time Olympic champion faces the greatest challenge of his life to qualify for the 2012 London Games.
"He has achieved nothing yet and he knows that, but what he has achieved is a commitment to try to see whether he can do it," Fox Sports quoted Anderson, as saying.
"People like Ian love competition and this is probably the biggest competition he has ever had in his life. Every other time he has looked around and been able to sum up the situation pretty quickly."
"He has never competed against anybody else - he has said that a million times - he is always competing against himself. This time he is putting himself right out there," he added.
Anderson's comment comes ahead of Thorpe's race at a World Cup meet in Singapore on Friday. (ANI)
