Hyderabad, Oct 30 (ANI): A corporate group of hospitals at Hyderabad has launched the first robotic treatment facility to aid neurologists in treating patients suffering from brain strokes.
In a one-of-its kind invention, the Apollo Hospital formally launched the novel mode of diagnosis and therapy on Saturday.
The 'stroke' robot would not only provide quality health care to patients in etropolitan areas, but also reach out to the public based in remote parts of the country including isolated interior locales, if telephonic connectivity is available.
The new-age equipment is enabled to diagnose the illness as well as suggest the line of treatment to the patients.
"I think it's a very wonderful thing that we are doing; this major milestone in bringing robots in management of acute stroke patients. The wonderful thing that this robot can do is it will connect anywhere to anywhere the patient and the specialist, said Dr. Prathap C Reddy, chairman, Apollo group of Hospitals.
"What we have done using this robot technology is to bring the entire stroke management to the perfection, you know to do the total assessment of the patient," he added.
Medical experts termed this equipment as a state-of-the-art innovation, since this system enables the patient to directly speak to the doctor with the help of latest technology.
According to media reports, the wireless and Internet-connected robot is the first and the only US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) certified remote presence device. (ANI)
