Bhubaneswar, Oct.23 (ANI): Rubbishing reports of cancellation of his Bangalore rath yatra, senior BJP leader LK Advani on Sunday said he will take his Jan Chetna Yatra to the city.
"I will take my Jan Chetna Yatra against graft to Bangalore," Advani confirmed soon after entering Orissa, where is he is scheduled to address several public rallies.
Yesterday, reports had suggested that Advani decided to call off his rath yatra in the IT city after the party was left facing embarrassment over the arrest of former Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa in land corruption related cases.
Reports added that the 'Jan Chethana Yatra' would continue its journey elsewhere in the state, in the coastal parts of Mangalore, Udupi and Honnavara on October 31. There would be no change in the public rally to be held on November 1 at Ankola, the last stop of the yatra in Karnataka, before it enters neighbouring Goa, reports had added.
The BJP decided against holding public meeting in Bangalore apparently in the light of recent developments that have embarrassed the party with former chief minister Yeddyurappa and another former minister S N Krishnaiah Setty sent to jail in cases relating to alleged land scams.
A Lokayukta Court on Thursday directed the Lokayukta police to investigate a private complaint filed against Home Minister R Ashoka, regarding alleged denotification of land in violation of rules. (ANI)
