London, Oct 21 (ANI): Wayne Rooney and Jack Wilshere could be shock picks for the Great Britain's football squad at next year's London Olympics.
The sport's bosses refuse to rule out the chance of Fabio Capello's stars being called up after Euro 2012.
England Under-21 coach Stuart Pearce was yesterday confirmed as the Great Britain manager and he is hoping to include players from all four home nations.
The 18-man squad, to be named on July 9, must consist of Under-23 players but each side is allowed three over-age men, The Sun reports.
Rooney could be one, plus the likes of David Beckham, 37 by next summer, and Ryan Giggs.
If England fails to get past the group stages of the Euros, suspended Rooney will not feature in Ukraine and Poland.
Adrian Bevington, managing director of Club England, declared: "We're not going to say no one who goes to the Euros could go to the Olympics. But any of the situations would have to be managed sensibly."
The Olympic football tournament will be from July 25 to August 11, with the final being held the same weekend as the Community Shield. A(NI)
