Srinagar, Oct 19 (ANI): A two-day youth festival organized in the state saw the participation of hundreds of college students from J-K and other states.
The fest was jointly organized by the Union Ministry, the Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan, and the National Service Scheme at the Sher-e-Kashmir international convocation centre.
The participants got an opportunity to show their creative side and also got a chance to interact with one another.
"We have organized the Kashmir Youth Festival. It is a pilot project for 500-600 youngsters. However, from next year, we will make it as an annual affair and we will invite around 5000-6000 youngsters from across the country," said Ajay Maken, India's Sports and Youth Affairs Minister.
"Cultural activities will be held; including career counseling and seminars on different topics will also be conducted. This is a pilot project and from next year, we will organize it on a large scale," he added.
Over 600 participants including the locals as well as artistes from the other states participated in this festival.
Famous social activist and Bollywood actress Shabana Azmi also attended the festival. She said the two-day festival promoted principles of integration, communal harmony and also spread the message of peace and unity in the whole country.
The cultural extravaganza was organized with an aim of facilitating interaction between Kashmiri youths and youth from other states. (ANI)
