2012 London Olympics security bill likely to cross one billion pound mark

London , Sun, 16 Oct 2011 ANI

London, Oct 16(ANI): Fears of terror attacks and rioting are likely to see 2012 London Olympics authorities release the full one billion pound budget earmarked for security for the event.

"There are concerns around security. Half the budget was for policing and half was ring-fenced to deal with threats such as biological attack," the Daily Express quoted a senior source, as saying.

British Home Secretary Theresa May had recently told MPs that there is a danger of gangs using the Games as a catalyst for looting and violence around the stadium in Stratford.

Experts are reportedly gearing up to foil a huge range of potential threats, from Al Qaeda-inspired biological or air attacks to the sort of looting seen in the summer across Britain.

It is also reported that a no-fly zone will be put in place over Olympic venues to prevent a 9/11-style attack. (ANI)
