Bracken back on track after 'spot-fixing' allegation

Sydney, Sun, 16 Oct 2011 ANI

Sydney, Oct 16(ANI): Days after Nathan Bracken's name was mentioned by alleged bookie Mazhar Majeed in a spot-fixing court case in London, it was business as usual for the former Australian fast bowler.

Bracken, his wife, Haley, and son Chase, made an appearance at Royal Randwick Racecourse in Sydney as ambassadors for the Australian Turf Club's family day.

The appearance is being seen as a case of getting on with life following a testing week.

According to the Sydney Morning Herald, Bracken was said to be worried that Majeed's claim that he represented the fast bowler would negatively affect some business deals he was waiting to seal.

However, those fears were allayed yesterday when he made his first public appearance since the claim in London and received not one "sledge" from the crowd.

"I've had no problems at all. It's been fantastic, a fantastic day and Royal Randwick have treated us well. A lot of people are having a great day and it's been a brilliant end to the week for my family and I," Bracken said about his day out with family.

Majeed, who was caught in a News of the World sting operation for allegedly 'spot-fixing' a Test match between Pakistan and England last year, has claimed that he knew several international players, including Bracken and Ricky Ponting and that Australians were "the biggest" offenders of match-fixing.
