Agra, Oct 14 (ANI): Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Rajnath Singh on Friday said that the parliamentary board of his party would decide on their chief ministerial candidate for Uttar Pradesh at an appropriate time.
"The parliamentary board meets at an appropriate time to make the decision. Sometimes we declare our chief ministerial candidate a little earlier and sometimes we don't," Rajnath Singh told mediapersons here.
Rajnath Singh was the Chief Minister of UP during the NDA regime and later became President of the Bharatiya Janata Party.
Taking a dig at Congress General Secretary Digvijay Singh, Rajnath Singh said "nobody in the country takes him seriously and therefore it was not important to pay heed to the remarks made by him."
"As for what Digvijay Singh says I don't think anybody in the country takes it seriously. Therefore there is no need for me to react to his remark," he added.
Asserting that it was not just the Congress-led UPA (United Progressive Alliance) Government that was responsible for spiralling inflation, the BJP leader further said the Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) Government led by Mayawati was also responsible for the increase in prices of commodities.
Rajnath Singh earlier hit out at the Mayawati Government for the " deteriorating law and order situation" in Uttar Pradesh.
"The law-and-order situation in the state is at its low, and the best examples are the murders of three chief medical officers in Lucknow and rape and killing of a teenaged girl in the compound of a police station," he said, while addressing a mass rally in Mathura.
Asserting that he has renewed his interest in Uttar Pradesh politics for the development of the region, Rajnath Singh further said: "I have not returned to the state politics because of myself. I have come here for you and to rescue the state. Every one comes for themselves, but I have not come here for the same."
"I began my political career from here and it is due to the love I have received from you all, that I have high stature in the national politics. I am indebted to the public of Uttar Pradesh," he added.
The BJP on Thursday flagged off two 'Jan Swabhiman Yatras' aimed at mobilising people to free the state from corruption and anarchy. (ANI)
