Kullu, Oct 14 (ANI): Annual International Folk Festival, which witnessed cultural performances from artists belonging to different countries, has concluded in Kullu, Himachal Pradesh.
The weeklong festival organized by the Lal Chandra Prarthi Kala Kendra, cultural organization, was held at the Dhalpur Maidan on the outskirts of Kullu alongside the Kullu Dusshera celebrations.
The international folk dance festival marked the end of the seven-day long Kullu Dussehra festival with folk dances from several foreign countries including Russia, Brazil and Nepal.
"We are so happy to stay here, to come here from Brazil. And this festival, we know that it's the most important festival in India and we are so happy to stay here," said Abela, a Brazilian participant.
Artistes from several states including Gujarat, Kerala, Chhattisgarh Uttar Pradesh, Manipur, Haryana, Goa, Maharashtra and Rajasthan participated alongwith artistes from different districts of Himachal Pradesh in the folk dance festival.
Artistes enthralled the audience comprising of people of the area and foreign tourists.
The Kullu Dusshera festival dates back to 1637 when Raja Jagat Singh, who was the ruler of the Kullu Valley, invited all the local deities to participate in the festival.
Since then, the assembly of deities from hundreds of villages across Kullu district has become a tradition(ANI)
