Rajouri, Oct 11 (ANI): Major General K. H. Singh, General Officer Commanding of the 25h Infantry Division of Indian Army, has said that several attempts by militants to infiltrate into India have been foiled by the army because of its alertness.
"As in the past, there has been a large number of attempts by the militants from the other side to infiltrate all of which have been defeated by our alert army personnel at the line of control. Similarly on October 7 they had made some attempt by firing at our locations which did not cause any considerable damage and no loss of life," Singh said here on Monday.
Singh further said the army has taken several measures to curb infiltration from the other side of the international border.
"Thereafter, we have taken such measures to chase the militants and whether they have suffered any casualty, that is not known. But, the fact remains that they have not been successful in their attempts," Singh added.
There is a fear among the Indians of an escalation in rebel incursions into Kashmir from Pakistan before winter sets in the Himalayan range.
Pakistan has repeatedly denied that it provides military aid to the militants and says that it only extends moral and diplomatic support to what it calls the struggle for independence waged by the people of Kashmir. (ANI)
