Kiran Bedi slams Congress for not supporting Jan Lokpal Bill

Hisar, Tue, 11 Oct 2011 ANI

Hisar, Oct 11 (ANI): Former senior police officer and civil society activist Kiran Bedi has criticized the Congress party for delaying the passage of the Jan Lokpal Bill.

"Our only demand is that voters should cast their ballot in the favour of political parties who support the Jan Lokpal Bill. Unfortunately, the Congress has emerged as the only political party which has not given any commitment to the people in the favour of the Jan Lokpal Bill. If they too had shown their support all the matters of discontentment would have been resolved," said Bedi.

Bedi further said that Team Anna enjoyed the support of people, as everybody now has understood the power of the Ombudsman Bill.

"There is not a single person who is not demanding the Jan Lokpal Bill as they understand that this is for the betterment of their present and future as well. A new wave of honesty will start in the country as soon as the Jan Lokpal Bill is passed," added Bedi.

The Hazare effect was seen all over the poll bound Haryana's Hisar constituency as para-military officials in association with the state police in Narnaul district were seen frisking vehicles and keeping eagle's eye at various crowded joints.

Team Anna had on Saturday launched a blistering attack on the Congress Party ahead of the Lok Sabha by poll in Hisar, asking voters to inflict a "historic" defeat on the party for not bringing the Jan Lokpal Bill.

The by-election to the Hisar seat, to be held on October 13, was necessitated after former Haryana Chief Minister and sitting MP Bhajan Lal's death in June. (ANI)
