Kolkata, Oct 9 (ANI): Well known novelist and social activist, Mahasweta Devi has advised West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee to seek a common platform with the Maoists and sort out pending issues in the state.
"It is up to the government, I do not see to it. I have written repeatedly that it's time our chief minister should sit with the Maoist leaders, listen to them and let people know, because I see that through discussion, mutual discussion, give and take, one can solve many problems," Devi told mediapersons.
The 85-year-old veteran activist has been a leading figure in voicing the concerns of villagers who have been suppressed by several factors including massive industrialization in the state.
At present, nearly 20 of 28 Indian states are affected by Maoist insurgency.(ANI)
