New Delhi, Oct 8 (ANI): Union Human Resource and Development (HRD) Minister Kapil Sibal inaugurated a vocational education programme under the aegis of the All India council for technical education (AICTE) here on Saturday.
Addressing media persons here, Sibal said that it was his dream to introduce such a programme and almost 50 crore people in India were deprived of skills required for technical jobs.
"In the past two years, we decided to make arrangements for this opportunity for the youngsters of this country be it women or our brothers. They should be trained in getting skills," he said.
Sibal further said that this programme will be launched in 2012, and added that it will later be introduced at secondary and senior secondary levels in schools across the country.
"In today's times there is a big demand for manpower but we lack trained personnel. Keeping this in mind we have introduced this qualification framework after extensive research for the past two years with the industry. This syllabus has been compiled by the industry and we will introduce it in secondary and senior secondary sections of schools," said Sibal.
"But today AICT (All India Council for Technical Education) has launched level three, four, five and six of this programme and it will be introduced in 2012," he added. (ANI)
