Nagpur, Oct 7 (ANI): Congratulating Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi for completing ten years in office, a highly confident Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) President Nitin Gadkari on Friday said the state has emerged as a role model for the whole country under the former's leadership.
"In India, Gujarat has through the path of development, created a history of its own. The agriculture growth rate has gone up to 14 percent; the irrigation work also has been very good. Gujarat is free of load shedding. Moreover, there has been immense foreign capital investment in Gujarat because of which employment has increased. The infrastructure is also very good. Gujarat has emerged as a role model for development and shown the path to the whole country," said Gadkari.
"Gujarat is continuously progressing under the leadership of Narendra Modi. In the future times to come, Gujarat will keep on developing in the same manner and break all the records of development. And, I have the firm belief that Gujarat will emerge as a role model for the whole country. I convey my best wishes on the completion of ten years," he added.
Modi, who was born in a middle class family in Vadnagar, became the chief minister of Gujarat in October 2001. He assumed the office at a time when his predecessor Keshubhai Patel had resigned, following the defeat of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the by-elections.
Modi's tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister began on October 7, 2001. In July 2007, he became the longest serving chief minister in Gujarat's history when he had been in power for 2063 days continuously.
Modi was elected again for a third term on December 23, 2007 with an emphatic win in the state elections. (ANI)
