New Delhi, Oct 5 (ANI): The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday said party veteran Lal Krishna Advani's forthcoming 'Jan Chetna Yatra' is aimed to encourage 'good governance and clean politics'
"The main objective of the Jan Chetna Yatra (Public Awareness Campaign) would be to promote good governance and clean politics and it will be led by honourable Advaniji," BJP leader Ananth Kumar told media persons here.
"The campaign will cover 23 states and four Union Territories. We are going to travel for 7600 kilometres during the procession," he added, while giving details about the procession.
Confirming that Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar would flag off the 'yatra' on October 11, Ananth Kumar asserted that the main purpose of the procession was to propose an agenda before the masses of the country.
"The Bharatiya Janata Party is not aiming to tag it as a negative procession; it is not about exposing others. The objective is to put forth an agenda before the public," he added.
The BJP has chosen the birth anniversary of Jayprakash Narayan on October 11 and his birthplace Sitab Diara in Bihar as the venue to launch the yatra.
However, many political parties have claimed that Advani's procession was motivated by the upcoming general elections to be held in 2014. (ANI)
