Kochi, Oct 2 (ANI): In a bid to promote theatre and dramatics, a three-day theatre workshop has been organised for children in Kerala's Kochi city.
An Indian artist based in Chile, Martin John C, along with two Chilean artists Claudia Claija and Valeria Olgin, conducted a theatre workshop for the children from the tourism clubs to bring out the confidence level among youths.
They gave a brief idea to the young artists about body movements and relaxation techniques with simple methods of singing and dancing.
Martin John C said that through the workshop they aimed at teaching the students how to use a body's rhythm, movement and space to boost confidence level.
"This is a session where we are exploring something like out of our personal theatre experience like we are sharing something theatre gatherings what we have been having like the last ten years in South America and also in Kerala. There are artists coming from South America to Kerala and me too, myself I am working in South America," said John C.
"So, we explore some common points of actors like how to use your body, how to use the rhythm, how to use your emotions and how to be truthful on everything what you are doing," he added.
The workshop was held in an attempt to boost tourism in Kochi, which was hosted by District Tourism Promotion Council (DTPC) in line with United Nations World Tourism Organisation's (UNWTO) for a weeklong tourism celebration programme.
Valeria Olgin, a professional theater artist from Chili, said that she enjoyed interacting with children and their workshop helped the youngsters to come out of the cocoon.
"Earlier, they did not work on their bodies. It is very difficult; they don't know about rhythm, music and how to move their bodies. Slowly, slowly they are learning. In the beginning they were very confused, but later they started enjoying the music," said Olgin. (ANI)
