London, Oct 1 (ANI): A revolutionary machine that uses air instead of oil and overcomes the greasy smell usually associated with frying has gone on sale for 200 pounds.
The Philips Airfryer uses a grill and a fan to blast very hot air around food at high speeds, cooking it from all sides.
The hot air crisps whatever it comes into contact with, making the appliance useful for baking foods such as brownies, lasagne and quiches.
And, in what will come as good news for time-pushed parents, it cooks food in about half the time of a conventional oven. It also takes just three minutes to heat up to its top temperature of 200c.
"The airfryer can cook a variety of dishes easily and quickly, and it is good to know that it offers a healthier alternative to frying food," the Daily Mail quoted children's cookery expert and food writer Beverley Glock as saying.
The appliance comes with a separator so different foods can fry at the same time without mixing the flavours.
Philips claims it delivers chips that are just 1.5 per cent fat, instead of the 14 per cent produced by deep-fat fryers. (ANI)
