London, Oct 1 (ANI): Spotify music streaming service has added a "private listening" mode to counter complaints about the automatic sharing of playlists on Facebook.
Facebook recently added Spotify to its roster that would allow users to access different music albums.
According to the new deal, when users connect Spotify to their Facebook account, their activity will be visible to their friends. If enough people listen to the same album or playlist, then it will appear as a playable item in the Facebook newsfeed.
The close relationship with Facebook, however, angered many of Spotify's users and prompted concerns about privacy and forced over-sharing via the social network.
The company has now responded by announcing a new 'private listening' option via its blog.
"Many of our users have told us that they like to share what they're listening to, but also want an easy way to hide their occasional guilty pleasures. So we've now added a new 'Private Listening' mode to our latest update," the company said.
However, Spotify users wanting privacy will have to note that the feature is automatically switched off when they next log in, the report said. (ANI)
