Karachi, Sept 30(ANI): Pakistan's opening batsman, Muhammad Hafeez, has been ruled out of the National T20 Cup since he will be undergoing a minor surgery.
Hafeez, who had a grand tour of Zimbabwe, has a cyst on his chest that requires surgery and a recuperation process thereafter.
"It's a minor surgery, nothing serious, but he (Hafeez) opted to skip the Twenty20 as precaution," Geo News quoted a PCB spokesman, as saying.
"He has very less time ahead of the Sri Lanka series (the first Test begins on October 18 in Abu Dhabi), which is followed by Bangladesh and England series. So it's the ideal time for him to undergo surgery," the spokesman added.
Hafeez was in prime form both with bat and ball during Pakistan's recent tour of Zimbabwe, where he scored 467 runs and took 13 wickets, and received four Man-of-the-Match awards. (ANI)
