New Delhi, Sep 30 (ANI): The Supreme Court on Friday cancelled the bail plea of Pune-based stud farm owner Hasan Ali, who was arrested on charges of money laundering.
An apex court bench headed by Justice Altamas Kabir allowed the plea of Enforcement Directorate (ED), which had approached the court challenging the order of the Bombay High Court that granted bail to Hasan Ali on August 12.
The Supreme Court had earlier on August 16 stayed the release of 58-year-old Ali.
The Bombay High Court had granted bail to Hasan Ali on August 12 on a cash surety of Rs. 5 lakh.
Ali, who allegedly has eight billion dollars stashed in Swiss banks, has been accused of money laundering.
Hasan Ali, who also has been accused of forging documents to acquire multiple passports, was arrested in Mumbai on the night of March 7 under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act.
The Income Tax Tribunal had on March 4 issued a show cause notice to Hasan Ali, accused of stashing huge amount of black money abroad. (ANI)
