Cape Town, Sept 30 (ANI): South African cricket captain A B de Villiers will miss next month's home series against Australia, as he will be out of his team for about six weeks because of his fractured finger.
De Villiers broke his finger while training with the Royal Challengers Bangalore this week and will undergo surgery on Friday.
"The hand specialist found that AB (de Villiers) fractured the hand bone (metacarpal) of his middle finger," the Sydney Morning Herald quoted Proteas team manager Dr Mohammed Moosajee, as saying.
"He advised that immediate surgery be done to fixate the fracture and to allow the rehabilitation process to begin as soon as possible," he added.
South Africa is scheduled to take on Australia in two T20 internationals and three ODIs in October. (ANI)
