Rescue operations continue in quake-hit Sikkim

Gangtok, Sep 26(ANI): Days after a massive earthquake wreaked havoc in Sikkim and brought normal life to a virtual standstill, rescue and salvage operations continued despite series of landslides and incessant rains.

 

Authorities have mobilized teams from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) to undertake rescue and relief operations.

 

Clearing the debris, hundreds of officials are working relentlessly, day and night, trying to restore normalcy in the devastated region.he number of deaths as reported by the Sikkim Government in the earthquake is 77.

 

The 13 people have been killed in East District, 59 in North District and five in West District. 64 persons are hospitalized. (ANI)
