Pushy parents 'ruining childhood by giving babies adult schedules'

London , Mon, 26 Sep 2011 ANI

London, Sept 26 (ANI): A new book has claimed that babies' natural bonds with their mothers are being ruined, as their time is being filled up with busy schedules by their pushy parents.

The book 'Too Much, Too Soon?' revealed that the youngest children develop naturally by responding to human voices and touch, but now that parents are pushing them too fast at a young age by making their schedule full of work, they are losing the bond with their mothers.

Mothers are declining to resort to lullabies to forge close bonds with their babies, as they no longer find the approach to be 'cool'.

Sylvie Hetu, a childcare expert, writes that babies now have 'schedules that are as important as those of adults'.

"It is quite common that babies have a class every day. Baby music, baby yoga, baby gym, baby singing, baby salsa, baby language, baby Einstein, baby sings and baby swim classes are very common nowadays," the Telegraph quoted her as saying.

"Babies respond well to human voices, human faces and human touch, and they will naturally open themselves to the world... Babies need the calm presence of their parents, the day-to-day house sounds, and human being around them.

"That is the stimulation they need. They also need to be protected from too much stimulation," she added. (ANI)
