London, Sept 22 (ANI): Cristiano Ronaldo's former girlfriend is among those accused of recruiting escorts for Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's infamous bunga-bunga parties.
Letizia Filippi, 34, who enjoyed a "smouldering relationship" with the ex-Manchester United star three years ago after they met while on holiday on a yacht in the Mediterranean, is one of eight people who have been placed under formal investigation.
She has been accused of criminal conspiracy and recruiting prostitutes for parties that Berlusconi, 74, threw at his official residences.
She is said to have worked closely with businessman Gianpaolo Tarantini, 36, who was the main procurer of the women - most of whom are said to be TV stars and models.
According to the 7,500 page prosecution dossier Filippi used her friends and contacts in showbusiness to recruit the women.
She was also a regular guest of Berlusconi's parties and prosecutors allege that, as well as hiring women, she was also paid to spend the night at the politician's home.
However, Filippi, who has just given birth, denied the accusations.
"I know some of the women and I know Tarantini. I went to a dinner with Berlusconi once but that's it," the Daily Express quoted her as saying.
"I am just too upset to speak at the moment. I have just had twins prematurely and I am worried about them more than anything else," she added. (ANI)
