Kolkata, Sep.20 (ANI): West Bengal is known for its obsession with football. It has a number of popular and well known football clubs like Mohun Bagan, Athletic Club and Dalhousie AC, which have hired many international players.
In North Bengal, Nepalese football players are a favourite with local football clubs.
Suryanagar Friends Union has recently hired some players from Nepal.
"We love to play in India because of the good response. If you want to go Thailand or Pakistan then you need a passport and visa, but if we want to come to India then we do not need a passport or visa. We can come and go from India without any problem. Indian football clubs have faith in us. That is why they have hired us," said Prabesh Khatoyal, a footballer from Nepal.
"We like to play football in India and we never feel that there is any problem when we come to play here. We also think that this will help us develop our friendship," added Sachindra, another footballer from Nepal.
India and Nepal share a good relationship and football is helping strengthen the ties.
Nepali players are hired because of their agility and artistic ball dribbling, which spectators thoroughly enjoy.
"I have seen many football games in India. Nepalese are good footballers, which attracts me. The skill of the Nepali players and their teamwork is good to see. Nepal does not seem a foreign country to us, we fine it very similar to India," said Pradip Kumar Bagh, a spectator.
"The player's skills attract people to a match, who back them. More than 10,000 spectators come for a football match and we think we can strengthen relations between India-Nepal through football," said A.K.Chakraborty, organizing secretary.
Indian spectators enjoy watching football played by international players, especially those from Nepal and provide them great support. (ANI)
