London, Sept 18(ANI): Former Australian fast bowler Jeff Thomson has backed the new world number one-ranked Test team England to dominate cricket.
Thomson, who was considered as England's famous opponent, reckons England squad, which has won the last two Ashes series, can beat any team, the Daily Star reports.
England have won their last six Test series, including beating India 4-0, to capture first position in the world rankings.
"It's definitely too early to speak about England as a great team or anything like that. You have to beat all opposition at home and away before you can be regarded as a truly great team in the history of the game," Thomson said.
"But this England side does have the potential to go on and do some damage and dominate. I don't see any weak links in the team at all", he said.
He further said that Test cricket is no longer strong as it was in times of Australian legends Shane Warne, Glenn McGrath.
"I don't think Test cricket is the strongest it's ever been. There's no Ambrose and Walsh, Pollock and Donald or Warne and McGrath around any more", he said, adding, "But that's not England's fault, you can only beat the opposition that is put in front of you and England are making a good job of doing that."
"It will be interesting to see what happens when Australia come over in a couple of years but for now, I think England will stay on top," he added. (ANI)
