London, Sept 18 (ANI): Tennis superstar Venus Williams has vowed to fight back against Sjogren syndrome, the rare autoimmune disease that sidelined her from US Open tournament.
The seven-time Grand Slam winner, 31, was diagnosed with the disease that affects glandular tissues - most notably the tear and saliva glands.
"I had swelling, numbness and was constantly tired. I just didn't have any energy," the Daily Star quoted Williams as saying.
"But I am thankful that I now have a diagnosis and I am working on returning to the court as soon as I can.
"This has been worrisome for some time but I know I can cope with this," she added. (ANI)
