Jamshedpur, Sep 18(ANI): Jharkhand police officials arrested six suspected Maoist ultras on Saturday.
The arrest was made when security personnel were on their regular patrolling drive in Maoist-prone areas of the state.
The security officials spotted the Maoists meeting in a jungle near a village.
Addressing a news conference, Akhilesh Kumar Jha, Senior Superintendent of Police, Jamshedpur, said that they seized Maoist literatures, banners and posters from their possession which ultimately led to their arrest.
"We received information that few Maoist ultras were meeting near a jungle. Our CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) officials conducted a search operation and arrested these six suspects," Jha said.
Among the arrested, Jamuna Singh, a resident of Patharchakri village of West Bengal, was allegedly involved in a lawmaker's murder in March 2007.
The arrested persons were identified as Nitai Das, Nityanand Thakur, Suryadeo Singh, Som Prakash Chakraborty and Prasanjit Chakraborty.
"These are the six suspects, arrested. We seized a lot of literature from them and the literature says that they had pledged to kill some of the senior police official of West Midnapore, including Manoj Kumar and Praveen Tripathi," Jha said.
