Gambhir hopes for strong Team India comeback after disastrous England tour

New Delhi, Sun, 18 Sep 2011 ANI

New Delhi, Sep 18(ANI): Indian batsman Gautam Gambhir today admitted that the team did not play to it's full potential during the tour of England, but also stated that one poor tour doesn't make them a bad side.

Talking to mediapersons in New Delhi, Gambhir said: "I still feel that one bad tour or one good tour doesn't make you a good or a bad side."

"We should have played to our potential but sometimes thing don't go your way. But I still believe that India has a lot of potential and great strength to still be number one in Test cricket and do well in one-day cricket," he added.

Gambhir further confirmed that he won't participate in the qualifying rounds of the Champions League, which starts tomorrow.

"I am not allowed right now to take part in any physical activity," he said.

The M.S. Dhoni-led team had lost the four-match Test series 4-0 and the five-match ODI series 3-0.

It means that they have lost the Test top spot and also dropped to fifth position in the International Cricket Council (ICC)'s ODI ranking, a lowest position in the last three years. (ANI)
