Chennai, Sep 18(ANI): People in Chennai are getting an opportunity to taste different varieties of homemade chocolates at a chocolate fair being organized by Small Industries Product Promotion Organisation Limited (SIPPO).
The 'Chocolate Fair', which kicked off on September 16, would conclude today.
The organizer of the exhibition, Palanivel Murugan, said that they had organized the fair with an objective to provide a marketing platform to hundreds of chocolate manufacturers in south India.
"We have organized the first chocolate fair in Chennai, I think this is the first chocolate fair in south India. We have conducted a lot of exhibitions all over south India, so far we have conducted 37 exhibitions, this is the 38th one. So, people are usually conducting lifestyle exhibitions only, so we are working in a different concept," Murugan said.
"A lot of chocolate manufacturers, more then 100 such people are available in Chennai, so we want to make a marketing platform to them and we want to make awareness in public also, that these kinds of people are available in Chennai," he added.
The visitors to the fair got an opportunity to see different varieties of chocolates like liquid chocolates, liquor chocolates, energy mints, white chocolate and chocolate biscuits.
Replica of Taj Mahal and Santa Clause made of chocolates were also seen at the fair.
Murugan further said that some big brands of chocolates had also participated in the exhibition and some of the imported chocolate brands were also displayed.
"We have made 100 stalls, lot of company people are also coming, not only chocolates, related with ice cream, cookies, candies, all the people have participated here. The brand of Milky Way chocolates, Robinson's and Nestle these people have also participated and imported chocolates and home made chocolates are also a part of this exhibition," he said.
Visitors said that the exhibition was a good occasion for the homemakers to show their talent.
"The exhibition was pretty great, there is a lot of stuff from all over the place and there are pretty awesome chocolates, but we couldn't try them out. Some of the chocolates, home made, are pretty great. This place is an opportunity for all the home makers to come out and try their chocolates," said Ram, a visitor.
Other than chocolates, jute products, garments, and household and food items were also on display at the fair. (ANI)
