Aizawl, Sep 17(ANI): Union Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation Minister Kumari Selja has said that 134 projects worth Rs.2,610 crores have been approved under the Jawaharlal Nehru National Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) for the north-eastern region.
Inaugurating a Mini Sports Complex Project at Aizawl in Mizoram today, Selja said that her Ministry has approved 59 projects with a total project cost of Rs. 910 crore with Central Assistance of Rs.719 crore in north-eastern states.
She said, for Mizoram, so far her Ministry has approved 12 projects under BSUP and IHSDP worth Rs. 131 crore with Central Assistance of Rs.110 crore.
Selja said, considering the special problems of north-eastern states, her Ministry is providing 100 percent as central grants if implemented through the central agencies under 10 percent lump-sump scheme and 90 percent of the project cost coming as central assistance under JNNURM a special dispensation unlike 50-80 percent in the case of other states.
She said, the Central Government is also allowing meeting the cost of land acquisition in north-east and hilly states under special circumstances. (ANI)
