New Delhi, Sep.17 (ANI): The Janata Dal United (JD-U) on Saturday joined the anti-government chorus for a rollback of the petrol price hike.
In a statement issued here, party general secretary and spokesman Prabhat Ranjan criticized the UPA II regime's decision to hike petrol prices by Rs.3.14 per litre.
Claiming that the price of international crude had comed own of late, Ranjan said that the government was not justified in going ahead with the fuel hike.
He further said that the government's citing of the value of the rupee going down against the dollar as the reason for hiking petrol prices was an unacceptable excuse.
He accused the Manmohan Singh-led UPA-II Government of pushing the national economy towards a "comatose state".
Calling for an immediate rollback, Ranjan said that Prime Minister Manmohan Singh should resign if he could not do so.
He urged the government to follow the path of 'Raj Dharma" in the nation's interest. (ANI)
