R.S.Pura (Jammu and Kashmir), Sep.17 (ANI): Incessant rains in the R.S.Pura region of Jammu and Kashmir has forced teachers of a government-run school to take classes on the road.
Teachers said that they face this problem every year during the monsoon season because of the poor drainage system.
"Whenever it rains, the school is flooded because there is no drainage system here, the water gets stagnant and turns into muck and attracts mosquitoes, flies and it is totally filthy. There are so many snakes here that you have to be careful while you are walking. There are so many problems that when we leave home we are unsure as to whether we will return home today or not," said Rasleen Kaur, a school teacher.
Teachers were seen taking classes outside the school on the road and the students were seen wading through the water-logged school.
Students said that it was difficult for them to concentrate on their studies as there was commotion on the road.
The teachers complained that the administration paid no heed to their plea.
"This is not right for the students, neither it is for us. There is traffic on the road and it doesn't look good, the students can't study in the open, but this is our duty," said Kaur.
The monsoon this year had caused heavy floods in several parts of north and central India, causing heavy devastation to life and property.orrential rains affect millions of people in many South Asian countries such as India, Bangladesh, Pakistan and Nepal, wreaking havoc by destroying crops and damaging homes, besides causing several water-borne diseases.
