Cardiff (Wales), Sep.17 (ANI): England completed its mastery over the touring Indian cricket team with an emphatic six-wicket victory in the fifth and final one-day international played here on Friday.

Addressing mediapersons, skipper Alastair Cook said that it was important that his team carry forward their winning streak.

"Very happy about play in certain areas and, I think, hunger and determination to improve from the last test is very encouraging and, I think, we also will need this for the next couple of months," said Cook.

He said that he was overwhelmed with the team's performance in this tour and believed that he would guide his team to victory in the forthcoming tours.

"It always takes time for the new captain to come in and pick the players to get use to your style and get used to them. We have made a good start, we have recorded a good start, and we will move on from there," added Cook.

In yesterday's match, Cook scored a valuable half century and kept his team in the hunt of victory as the match was reduced to 34 overs.

"It has been an incredible summer for us and for the last few months we have played an outstanding cricket, especially in the test matches and in these last three games we have managed to sneak around and that shows good character in side and squadron," said Cook.

In the final match that was played yesterday at Swalec stadium in Cardiff, Wales Indian team posted an imposing total of 304 for six.

However, the target was reduced under the Duckworth/Lewis method following rain interruptions, England cruised to 241 for four in 32.2 overs to win the series 3-0.

England also won the test series 4-0 to knock India off the top of the world rankings. By Praful Kumar Singh (ANI)
