London, Sept 13 (ANI): Finally ending years of speculation, The Carrie Diaries, the series prequel to Sex and the City, is set to go into production, pleasing die-hard fans who had initially scoffed at the idea.
The series, based on the book by SATC author Candace Bushnell, will follow twenty years younger Carrie through her high school years in a small New England town.
According to Deadline, the look at Carrie Bradshaw's teenage years will be made by Gossip Girl producers, Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz as well as SATC creator Candace Bushnell.
The story is set in the Eighties and charts the writer's move from the Midwest to New York City.
It is reported that Sarah Jessica Parker will not be involved in The Carrie Diaries project, though the face of the wildly popular brand will be starring in the new SATC series.
There is also no sign of Carrie's famous sidekicks Charlotte and Miranda in the book, though Samantha features, coming to the rescue of the young Carrie when she first arrives in the big city.
The bright new stars of SATC3's young cast have big shoes to fill - though none are strangers to the world of showbiz.
They are said to be Elizabeth Olsen, sister of Mary-Kate and Ashley, Emma Roberts, niece of Julia, Selena Gomez, girlfriend of Justin Bieber, and Gossip Girl's Blake Lively. (ANI)
