Capello's reign as England manager under threat

London, Sun, 11 Sep 2011 ANI

London, Sep 11(ANI): England manager Fabio Capello's reign is reportedly coming under increasing threat from factions within the Football Association (FA).

According the Daily Mail, FA chairman David Bernstein insists that Capello will see out his six million pound-a-year contract, but other senior figures want a new man in place for next summer's European Championship finals in Poland and Ukraine.

Capello had earlier survived England's 2010 World Cup disaster, as it would have cost 11 million pounds to sack him.

"It is on the agenda that Capello will be replaced before Euro 2012 and someone like Harry Redknapp will come in. People are all over the idea," the newspaper quoted a source, as saying.

"Capello did not handle tournament football at all well in South Africa. The camp was a disaster and the players were unhappy. You could smell that a mile off."

"Nothing must compromise England's game in Montenegro (England require a point from the October 7 game to qualify for Euro 2012). But once England are safely qualified and Christmas and the New Year arrive, a change could be made," the source added. (ANI)
