New York, Sep 11(ANI): World No.9 Samantha Stosur became the first Australian woman to reach the US Open final since Wendy Turnbull in 1977, when she defeated Germany's Angelique Kerber in the semi-final in New York.
Stosur sealed the spot after overcoming Kerber 6-3, 2-6, 6-2, in an hour and 46 minutes.
"It's pretty hard to describe, it's one of the best feelings I've ever had," Sky Sports quoted Stosur, as saying.
The 27-year-old, runner-up to Francesca Schiavone in the French Open final last year, will now take on Serena Williams for another shot at a first major. (ANI)
