London, Sept 9 (ANI): John Galliano was asked to pay just 2.60 pounds for his despicable racist comments at a Paris bar last year.
The 50-year-old British fashion designer was found guilty of racist and anti-Semitic abuse by the French Court and was asked to pay the symbolic damages of one euro to his three victims.
The lawyer of one of the victims said that Galliano was "a sick man" who has seen his reputation and career destroyed saying the punishment was apt.
"That is the real punishment," the Daily Mail quoted the lawyer as saying.
Galliano, who was sacked as chief designer at Dior in the wake of the scandal, had faced a jail term of up to six months, but instead received a suspended fine of 6,000 euros (5,219 pounds).
Judge Anne-Marie Sauteraud said that the low damages and fine reflected his lack of previous convictions, and the attempts he had made to overcome his drug and alcohol addiction.
Galliano, who was not at the Palais de Justice in Paris to hear the verdict, was found guilty of casting public insults based on origin, religious affiliation, race or ethnicity.
Miss Bloch said she suffered a 45-minute rant during which Galliano also accused her of having "revolting eyebrows, low-end boots and low-end thighs", while her partner, Philippe Virgitti, 41, was called "a dirty Asian s***" and an "illegal immigrant".
Fatiha Oumeddour, 47, who was not in court, told the police she had been called a "f****** ugly dirty Jewish b******" at the same bar in October last year. (ANI)
