New Delhi, Sep.7 (ANI): The biggest challenge before the Tibetan government-in-exile functioning from Dharamsala in Himachal Pradesh are to free Tibet from Chinese rule and the return of their spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, to his homeland.
Tibetan Prime Minister-in-exile, Lobsang Sangay said this on the sidelines of a function at New Delhi on Tuesday.
He said Tibetans were looking forward to constructive dialogue with Beijing on this issue.
"Biggest challenge is to restore freedom in Tibet and return of His Holiness Dalai Lama and we are still waiting for the Chinese government to have substantial dialogue and resolve the issue peacefully," said Lobsang Sangay.
Tibetans living-in-exile had observed the 51st anniversary of Tibetan Democracy Day at Dharamsala on September 2.
In 1960, the Dalai Lama introduced democracy and since then the people have been choosing members of the parliament-in-exile.
The US-educated Sangay further said he is sure his government would be able to soon realise the dream of their parents of attaining freedom of Tibet.
"We all must contribute towards making the reality, reality of freedom in Tibet and that has been the aspirations of Tibetans and our parents and we have to make dream of our parents come true. Definitely look around its changing on daily basis. Look at Arab spring where democracy is spreading and our day will come and it will come soon," added Sangay.
An estimated 80,000 Tibetans, along with the Dalai Lama, arrived in India in 1959 after an unsuccessful uprising against Chinese rule.
