Patna, Sep.7 (ANI): A former police chief of Bihar, Narayan Mishra, has been charged of possessing property beyond his known sources of income.
Reacting to the charge, Mishra said: "In my 38 years of service, they have been searching for corruption evidence against me, but they could never charge me with anything. And now, suddenly, when I have only four months left in my retirement, I have now been charged of being corrupt and having property beyond my income bracket. I feel that my 38 years of disciplined hard work has been ruined or rather sabotaged."
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has confirmed that the house of tainted Indian Administrative Service officer Shiv Shankar Verma has been confiscated under corruption charges. He informed that the property would soon be converted into a school.
"The orders to seal one person's property has been given and the administration has already begun the process. One building has been confiscated and the remaining procedures are going on," said Kumar.
Verma was the first officer to face such an action under the Bihar Special Courts Act, 2009. Verma now faces a case of disproportionate assets amounting to Rs.1.44 crore, along with eight other relatives. (ANI)
