Auckland, Sep 5(ANI): The Auckland Aces, winners of New Zealand's HRV Cup, are determined to improve their country's dismal record in the Champions League Twenty20 this month.
As New Zealand's reputation has taken a dent following their past performances in the tournament, the Auckland Aces will have to participate in a qualifying round to win the last three places in the 10-team event.
They will play Indian Premier League (IPL) side Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and English county Somerset to qualify.
"We're going there to give it our best shot. We may not be taken as seriously as, say, an Australian state side or an English county side, so it's up to us to go out and put New Zealand on the map," the New Zealand herald quoted captain Gareth Hopkins, as saying.
The Auckland Aces will face KKR on September 19 and Somerset a day later.
The tournament begins on September 23. (ANI)
