Durham, Sep 4(ANI): Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni has questioned the television umpire's dubious decision, which resulted in the dismissal of Rahul Dravid in the first One-day International against England on Saturday.
Dravid was batting on two off six balls, when England bowler Stuart Broad appealed for caught behind. The on field umpire Billy Doctrove of the West Indies, initially ruled him not out, but after an inconclusive review he gave the marching orders to a seemingly shocked Dravid.
A genuinely baffled Dhoni enquired about the Decision Review System (DRS) and the technologies used for the process.
He also pointed that the technology used in the DRS was inconclusive to dismiss Dravid and the rule book states that the benefit of doubt goes to the batsman.
"Again you know, there are quite a few things. There was no mark when it comes to hotspot. Their was no visual deflection as such and the umpire had given not out, so I felt benefit of doubt always goes to the batsman, so that's a big thing," said Dhoni.
"And I still don't know how exactly they (the television umpire) gave him out in the sense, whether it was sneeko (technology used to detect edge through sound), whether sneeko is allowed to be used or the audio technician gave him out or the third umpire gave him out so its quite complex but I think there is fair amount of questions that needs to be asked, when it comes to DRS it still there is doubt why it shouldn't go to the batsman," he added.
