London, Sep 4(ANI): England striker Wayne Rooney has claimed that his country's footballers have been suffering racist abuse "for years".
Rooney's comment comes after Football Association (FA) chiefs lodged an official complaint yesterday after the Three Lions stars suffered sickening taunts during their Euro 2012 qualifier against Bulgaria in Sofia.
A pocket of Bulgaria fans made monkey noises every time a black player touched the ball.
"As players we could hear it on the pitch. It has been going on for years and it is not right. It needs to stop and hopefully something can be done about it," the Sun quoted Rooney, as saying.
It is the fifth time in ten years that England have been moved to complain about racisms. (ANI)
