London, Sep 4(ANI): England striker Wayne Rooney reckons that he has made his peace with Three Lions' fans and is restoring his reputation as the country's talismanic player.
Rooney ended a miserable run at international level as he grabbed a double, his first goals for the country in a year, when England thrashed Bulgaria 3-0 in the Euro 2012 qualifier.
"What happened, happened. I'm sure the fans see that when I play I give 110 per cent every game and the fans were great again. I always thank them for their support and I hope they enjoyed the evening. I've always loved playing for England and I'll play for England until someone tells me I can't," the Telegraph quoted Rooney, as saying.
"Things have clicked into place since the World Cup. Obviously from last summer we've responded really well to that and through the qualifiers we've done well. I think it was great win [against Bulgaria] and if we win Tuesday we've more or less qualified so that's our aim," he added
Rooney is second in the England scoring chart for goals in qualification games after taking his tally to 16, four short of Michael Owen.
He is the fourth highest scorer in competitive games that include finals, too, with 20 goals and in seventh place overall in the list of the country's scorers with 28. (ANI)
