Build-up to next Ashes series is 'the ultimate thing' for Aussies: Harris

Galle, Sat, 03 Sep 2011 ANI

Galle, Sep 3(ANI): Australian fast bowler Ryan Harris insists that his team has moved on from the humiliating Ashes defeat to England earlier this year.

Harris, who is making his first Test appearance since the Ashes humbling in Sri Lanka, further said that building a strong team to regain the urn is the ultimate thing for the Michael Clarke-led team, the Sydney Morning Herald reports.

When asked about the team's level of performance, Harris said: "It's no surprise. We just didn't play well in the Ashes. Full stop. And we lost them. Obviously we've done a bit of planning since then and forgotten about them and worried about this Test series."

"The build-up to the next Ashes is the ultimate thing, but we've got a fair bit of cricket to play between now and then. For us it was just about trying to play well and consistently I guess."

"Obviously there's a few new players in the team, so we needed to get them involved and get them in the culture and get them performing well and I think that's what we've done so far. It's only early days," he added.

Australia has not won the Ashes since the 2006-07 series, which it had with a convincing 5-0 margin. (ANI)
