Srinagar, Sep.3 (ANI): Prominent Bollywood and other personalities visited Srinagar on Friday to pay tribute to flamboyant yesteryear actor Shammi Kapoor who died on August 14 in Mumbai.
The 79-year-old actor died of kidney failure.
Among those present were Reliance tycoon Anil Ambani, his wife Tina Ambani, veteran actresses Shabana Azmi, Asha Parekh and Poonam Dhillon, and socialite Sunanda Pushkar. Shammi's son Aditya Raj Kapoor was also present.
"Today, we are here emotionally to immerse the ashes of Shammi Kapoorji in the Jhelum," said Shabana Azmi.
"He will be remembered forever, because Shammi Kapoor was not only a human being, but was also a thought, he was a man full of life, the way he showed his courage even after he wasn't well, he set an example for people, you cannot think about Kashmir without Shammi Kapoor," added Azmi.
"We are feeling very good and feeling sad also that he is not with us today. And, we are feeling nice after coming here," said actress Asha Parekh.
Shammi Kapoor joined films in 1948 as a junior artiste and had a long and illustrious career, lasting nearly four decades. (ANI)
