England expects backlash from 'world-class' Team India: Dernbach

London, Fri, 02 Sep 2011 ANI

London, Sep 2(ANI): Ahead of the five match ODI series between England and India, England fast bowler Jade Dernbach insists that it would be a mistake to underestimate the injury-hit 50 over World Cup champions.

England had on Wednesday claimed a six-wicket win in the one-off Twenty20 international at Old Trafford.

The close contest was a far cry from the Test series, which England won 4-0, to offer an injury-depleted India a much-needed boost ahead of the ODI series.

"They are a world-class outfit and world champions. Any team with that title is going to want to bounce back and show what they are about. That is what makes the series so interesting," the Telegraph quoted Dernbach, as saying.

"We are expecting a backlash, but if we can continue to play as we are doing, then it will be hard for them. The World Cup is over and behind us. If we can keep this team together and move forward then I think we can do some great things," he added.

India will face England in the first ODI in Durham on Saturday with Gautam Gambhir, Yuvraj Singh, Virender Sehwag, Zaheer Khan, Ishant Sharma and Harbhajan Singh out with injuries. (ANI)
