New Delhi, Aug 31 (ANI): The newly appointed Vice Chief of the Navy, Vice Admiral Robin Dhowan, on Wednesday stated that the Indian Navy has all the makings of becoming a potent force in the maritime arena.
Addressing mediapersons after taking over from outgoing Vice Admiral D K Deewan, Vice Admiral Dhowan said: "I think the Indian Navy is poised for greater heights, to become multi- dimensional force in our region."
"And I think we are on the right track in every aspect with regards to our acquisitions in all our ships and aircraft so that it can be a potent force, which can meet the entire maritime interests," he added.
Robin Dhowan was presented a Guard of Honour on his new appointment.
Vice Admiral Dhowan is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy, and has completed several naval-based courses in India and abroad.
He completed the Sea Harrier Direction course from United Kingdom and the Naval Command Course at Naval War College in USA.
Vice Admiral Dhowan had previously held important posts that include Deputy Director Naval Operations, Joint Director Naval Plans and Assistant Chief of the Naval Staff (Policy and Plans). Earlier, Vice Admiral Dhowan headed the Eastern Fleet of the Navy. (ANI)
